William Wilberforce, born in 1759 was an English parliament member and a leader of the abolition movement against the triangle trade. He advocated against use of all goods made with any sort of slave labor, or sponsoring slave trade. He died in 1833 from influenza.

Alice Paul
Alice Paul (United States, suffragette and author of the 19th amendment)
Alice Paul was born in Paulsdale, New Jersey in 1885. She studied abroad in England and the U.S., earning six degrees in various subjects, including a PhD. She grew up, being taught by her parents to be a suffragette, and to never stop until she has finished her work. Ms. Paul started with joining NAWSA (National American Woman’s Suffrage Association) in Washington, D.C. She then carried on to form her own organization, National Woman’s Party. She wrote the 19th amendment that gave women the right to vote, and succeeded in passing it in Congress. She continued to fight for women’s rights, and passed her second amendment, “The Equal Rights Amendment”, in 1972. She passed away in 1977 in Moorestown, New Jersey, just a couple miles from her childhood home in Paulsdale. Her legacy still lives on, and is an inspiration to all, and more generations to come.

Eleanor Roosevelt was born Oct. 11, 1884 in New York City. Eleanor Attended Allenswood, a finishing school in London, England, from 1899 to 1902. She married her 6th cousin Franklin Delano Roosevelt who became the thirty-second United States president, on March 4, 1933. Eleanor was known as a humanitarian and civic leader, her work for the welfare of youth, black Americans, the poor, and women, at home and abroad has yet to be equaled. One of her biggest accomplishments was writing the Universal Declaration of Human Rights. Eleanor died November 7th 1962 at age 78.

Irena Sendler was a Polish Catholic social worker in the city of Warsaw in the 1940s. Once the Holocaust started, she saw that something had to be done to help save the million Jews who were trapped in the Warsaw Ghetto. Working with the resistance group Zegota, she ended up rescuing over 2,500 Jewish children. Sadly, she died in 2008 at the age of 98 after being nominated for a Nobel Peace prize in 2007.

After releasing information and changing the minds of a majority of the German youth, she was prosecuted for treason and beheaded.
