About the Title: "Ripples of Hope" The title of this play was chosen by the students, and is derived from a quote taken from a speech by Robert F. Kennedy in Cape Town, South Africa on June 6th, 1966. It is our hope that this play inspires our audience to be similar ripples of hope in their families, communities, and world. The subtitle of the play, "Profiles of people who have changed the world" is derived from that of the Speak Truth to Power book, written by Kerry Kennedy herself.
The Origin of the "Ripples of Hope" Quote: “It is from numberless diverse acts of courage and belief that human history is shaped. Each time a man stands up for an ideal, or acts to improve the lot of others, or strikes out against injustice, he sends forth a tiny ripple of hope, and crossing each other from a million different centers of energy and daring those ripples build a current which can sweep down the mightiest walls of oppression and resistance.”
